1. Capacity-Building Activities

   1. Methodology Participatory Assessment (MPA)

      • Train trainers and supervised the transfer of knowledge and skills to te community; used in the implementation of the improved cookstove program; gender and poverty -sensitive tools and methodology

   2. Product Development, Promotion and Marketing
      • Orient potters and inventors in the production of improed cookstove and introducing te products in the market

   3. ICS and Indoor Air Pollution
      • Conduct database on indoor air pollution and women in biomass energy in 10 selected poor villages in the country; assists in the imrovement of the kitchen; monitor health status of women using bionass for cooking

   4. Kitchen Improvement and Healthy Lifestyles
      • Assists in kitchen improvement activities using ergonomics and Feng Shui primciples

2. Research and Documentation

   • Enabling Urban Poor Livelihoods Policy Making: Understanding the Role of Energy Services (Technology and Development Group, University of Twente-The Netherlands with Approtech Asia-Philippines, FOTE-Nigeria, and Winrock International-Brazil) - results of the study will be presented in an international workshop in London in September and published in the ENERGIA News as well as local newspaper and publication

   • Impact of Renewable Energy Technologies Micro-hydro and Solar PV on the Livelihood Activities of Women in Upland Communities in Tulgao, Northern Luzon and Malitbog, Southern Leyte, Philippines - results of the study has been presented to the CRGGR body in May in Nairobi, Kenya and will be published inthe Philippines soon.

   • Case studies of the energy use and source of Rice Cake industry in Laguna and Fruit Dehydration in Nueva Vizcaya - Compilation of Philippine case studies on gender, energy, water and poverty in micro-enterprise will be compiled and published in December 2005

   • Evolution of Stoves - the compilation of photographs and description/illustration of the stoves from 3-stone stove to the improved cookstoves found in the country will be published in December 2007

   • Kitchen Photo-Documentation - photographs and description/illustration of the kitchen of the different tribal communities and cultural groups will be compiled and published especially before and after improvement

3. Sustaining Local Initiatives

   1. local potters turn entrepreneurs in Iloilo and South Cotabato - a case study of these entrepreneurs will be published by December 2006 to encourage other potter to commercialize their improved cookstove

   2. ICS promoters turn entrepreneur in Ilocos Norte and South Cotabato - more development workers are motivated to become promoters of imroved cookstove and agents of change for women empowerment

   3. ICS help desks in the academe and micro-finance institution
